A photographic review of 2015

I have this habit of jotting down my achievements in a diary at the end of every year.

It has now become one of my favourite times of year, as I take a moment to sit with a cup of tea and reminisce about the past 12 months. I realise a blog of my photographs may not generate much interest, seeing as these are in fact my personal memories, but perhaps it will inspire you to review your own year and in turn think about what you’d like to achieve for the next! I find myself gasping at the speed of time each and every year; time is precious and so much can be done in 365 days. 2015 has been genuinely amazing; here is a selection of what I deem to be the highlights of another fantastic year.

I kick started the year by working alongside Ross Kemp for four days, during the filming of Extreme World. I highly regret not getting a photo.

The first 5 months were spent in good old Blighty whilst I boosted the travel funds. But it didn’t stop me going on some mini (home) adventures…

Days off were primarily spent cycling around in search of beautiful English scenery
I faced my fear of blood and donated twice
Me and my fantastic friend picked the perfect day to explore Cambridge where punting and a picnic were enjoyed
My oldest friend (whom I hadn’t seen in over 10yrs) finally introduced me to her husband
And I celebrated my birthday with my best friend with a day in London.
Alongside work I studied towards my TEFL qualification with this interesting bunch
I spent quality time with my Mum and Grandma and had a memorable day visiting the village of Diggle
And popped over to Norfolk for a weekend of fun with my season friends.
One of my best friends got married and I was honoured to be their photographer
And I convinced some friends to join me in my first ever 10km obstacle race.

June finally came and I ventured off to Iceland on a cycle tour around the island…

But first I took a cheeky 2 days to go to Alicante to collect the bike and cycle it 80km in time for my flight.
Along the way I met incredible individuals…
…some slightly more bonkers than others.
I wild camped amongst breath-taking scenery
And discovered some unbelievable things.
Charlie the bike was passed on to the next rider – a fun opportunity to meet someone new in such absurd circumstances!

Shortly after returning, I headed to SE Asia for a 10 day adventure with Gemma…

We went for an overnight cruise in Halong Bay
And risked our lives riding a moped along the coast of Vietnam.
I discovered the Cham Islands and spent a day scuba diving there.
And a jaw-dropping visit to Angkor Wat supported years of desire to go there.

September came and it was time for me to head to China to begin my new TEFL job…

Shortly after arriving, I met up with these lovely people that I met in Vietnam
I passed my training and soon became a member of this First Leap family
And suddenly I was responsible for all of these little people!
I discovered skiing could be had just 1hr north of the city
…that it was possible to support other schools in China (and climb beautiful mountains on my weekends)
And that rescuing a kitten from the street is an adventure all in itself – this little guy was smuggled on to a 5hr bullet train journey up the country.
To finish off the year perfectly, Dom came to visit and we went in search of the Great Wall of China together!

What are the highlights from your 2015? I’d love to hear them!
